Pick Your Own Strawberries

Our Pick Your Own Strawberry will open Tuesday and Wednesday July 14 and 15 from 8-12. Picking conditions are good.

Somethings will be a little different this year, but the same great taste of freshly picked strawberries, to be enjoyed at home, awaits you!

To promote the wellbeing of our community, and to follow the guidelines created by the Ontario Berry Growers of Ontario, and approved by the provincial Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, in our PYO patch, we will:

  • Ask customers to complete a self assessment prior to arriving at our PYO fields: https://covid19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/  and to stay home if they do not pass the assessment.
  • Ask all customers to drive to our PYO field, and park in the designated parking spaces.
  • Have one-direction foot paths for customers to enter and return from the field. All PYO customers must be able to walk at least 1 km, as some rows are a distance from the parking lot, and golf carts cannot be used to provide transportation.
  • Not allow customers to bring their own containers.
  • Charge by volume, not by weight to reduce points of contact between customers and customer service staff in the field.
  • Provide either a 3L basket ($14 full) or a 5.6 L white pail ($28. full) for customers to pick into.
  • Limit customers in the field by ensuring that everyone who comes is planning to pick. Therefore, each customer (over the age of 14) has to have a basket or pail to enter the patch.
  • Minimize cash transactions and request card payment, preferably tap, when possible.
  • Limit customers in the field. We request that one member from each family come to pick. If children come, they must stay with their family unit at all times, and pick only in their assigned row.
  • Promote physical distancing at all times: in lines to purchase containers, to enter the field, while picking and when exiting. Anyone not respecting social distancing may be asked to leave the farm, and a refund will not be given.
  • Encourage all customers to practice proper sanitation. Hand sanitizer will be offered at the entrance and the exit to the field.
  • NOT permit sampling or eating in the field. Anyone eating will be asked to leave the farm, and a refund will not be given.
  • Assign rows to customers, and operate a flag system to indicate where one customer has finished picking and the next customer should begin.
  • Not allow pets on the farm.

We thank you for adhering to these guidelines. Any guests to our farm not respecting them may be asked to leave and a refund will not be given.

PYO hours: Monday to Saturday 8 am – 12 These hours will lengthen as the picking becomes more plentiful.

PYO location: 1264 Erb’s Road, St. Agatha
